Are you a young person who dreams of a world where people and landscapes thrive? The Global Landscapes Forum is now accepting applications for the Restoration Stewards 2025 programme This is a chance to turn your dreams into action.

Restoration Stewards is a youth programme rooted in care, landscape leadership, diversity, intersectionality and intergenerational equity. Launched in 2020 by the Global Landscape Forum and the Youth in Landscapes Initiative, it aims to support the efforts of youth-led teams in the holistic restoration of their landscapes and seascapes, while nurturing biocultural diversity.

The programme has four main pillars: funding, learning opportunities, mentoring and being featured at global events. Catering Managers and their teams are supported for a year to further develop their vision, deepen their impact and become ambassadors for catering at a global and local level. 

Benefits

The selected catering commissioners will receive expert guidance, as well as professional and project development opportunities. They will also receive a grant of 5,000 euros to continue developing their catering project, while fulfilling the following objectives:

• Define specific project goals to be achieved by the end of the year, with guidance from GLF mentors and experts; 
• Seek out and carry out training activities to deepen understanding of the landscape approach and other relevant themes; 
• Organise at least one event to involve local communities; 
• Coordinate with the GLF team to promote your project on social networks 
• Produce articles and other content for GLF platforms to provide progress updates and present inspiring stories from your local landscape; 
• Meet regularly with the GLF team and mentors to discuss the progress of the project.

Eligibility

Apply if you are:

• A young, ambitious restaurateur aged between 18 and 35.
• Leading or being part of a team led and managed by young people.
• Working on an ecosystem restoration project for oceans, wetlands, peatlands, mountains, forests, arid lands or pastures.

• You don't have to create a new project from scratch to be eligible; applicants are invited to develop restoration programmes or projects that are already running. 
• It would be beneficial if at least one person on your team was proficient in English, as many of the activities and opportunities offered by the programme are currently in English. 

Application

Project selection is a competitive process and, as such, applying will require some preparation. Make sure you create an application that shows the work you're doing in the best possible light. 

When you sign up, you will be asked the following questions. 

About you 

• What experience do you have related to catering? (200 words).
• Prepare a one-minute video explaining why you would like to become a Restoration Steward. Share the video as a post on your social networks or use an unlisted link from YouTube or Google Drive. Make sure you add the link to your video in the application.

About your project: 

• Make sure you have a name for your project.
• Describe the landscape you are restoring, including its current state, the main degradation factors and why you are working on it (200 words).
• Describe your project, clearly specifying its objectives and related activities. Also explain how your project aims to restore the landscape through a landscape approach and how you intend to bring about positive changes for the local population. (400 words)
• Explain where you see your project one year after completing the programme. (200 words)
• Prepare a one-page PDF or Word document with a clear description of how you intend to use the initial funding of 5,000 euros.
• Attach a photo of your project area.
