The CERC Civil Society and Public Administration Grants programme welcomes  professionals from civil society organisations or government bodies  who have international experience working in the area of migration or immigrant integration and inclusion to apply to take part in a  one-month residence  at the Metropolitan University of Toronto.

The CERC Civil Society and Public Administration Fellowship programme promotes international collaboration and learning exchanges between professionals and researchers. It offers a unique professional development opportunity for practitioners to share and develop their field experience, connect with a specialised team of Canadian and international researchers and local stakeholders, or conduct their own field research. The experience will help professionals to develop and bring to their organisations innovative ideas for applied research and evidence-based good practice. At the same time, professionals would be encouraged to contribute their perspectives to the work of CERC's Migration team.

The grant includes:

  • A grant, including travel allowance, to contribute to living expenses totalling CAD$ 4,000.
  • Academic host of the CERC Migration research team.
  • Access to office space and resources available at CERC's migration facilities.
  • Professional development and networking through participation in CERC Migration research events and workshops.

"The intention of doing the scholarship was to open my eyes to some of the similarities and differences between Australia and Canada. I hoped it would allow me to consider the range of activities that the Scanlon Foundation and Institute carry out and what might be missing. Now I've had that opportunity and will return to Australia with new ideas and a broader perspective." Anthea Hancocks, CEO, Scanlon Foundation/Scanlon Foundation Research Institute and CERC Civil Society Fellow, February 2023
