The BMGA Foundation presents the 2023 BMGA Fellows Programme, a social impact initiative designed to reduce the gender skills gap among university graduates in Africa and Asia. It is a six-month experiential learning programme designed to equip young women with the knowledge, access and resources needed to acquire the fundamental employability skills that strengthen their marketability for a successful career in the 21st century.
This fully virtual programme offers high-level professional development courses, mentoring from graduate students at top global universities, mentoring from senior-level executives with international experience, and life skills designed to prepare young women for the future of work. In addition, the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is an official partner of the BMGA Fellowship Programme and previous cohorts of the programme have been supported by Giants of Africa, UN Women, African Society of Cambridge University (ASCU), University of Pretoria, University of Lagos, Oxford Africa Society, University of Ibadan, EI Skills Group, Storywork International, Gallup, Imperial College Business School, University College London, Sterling Bank, Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF), and Femme Minty, just to name a few.
Once selected, participants undergo an intensive six-month learning experience that uses modern technological tools and resources to aid transformational learning. The programme consists of modules led by industry experts, professors, and thought leaders from top institutions around the world. Using face-to-face classes, group discussions and other learning tools, participants are able to gain new perspectives on the skills needed for the dynamic business environment.
Some of the benefits include courses taught by renowned professors and industry experts, mentor pairings with graduate students and professionals from top global universities such as the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London, one-on-one career coaching from global executives with international experience, conversations with world-class leaders as they share their blueprint for career success, and access to the invaluable Alumni Network with individuals living in more than twelve (12) countries around the world for further learning, networking, and lifetime support.
