Artists harness the transformative power of culture to act, live and imagine. From challenging norms through freedom of expression and creating safe spaces, to initiating co-operation in the face of global crises and asserting alternative narratives: emerging artists and cultural professionals bring new waves of ideas, perspectives and energy to the positive force of culture. They deserve a chance to experiment, find their way and their communities and gain momentum in their work. The Seed Awards aim to support this journey.

Every year, the Prince Claus Fund awards Seed Prizes to 100 emerging artists working in contexts where cultural expression is under pressure. The Seed Award is designed to support their personal and artistic development, amplify their talent and unleash a new wave of change agents.
Prize
- Each Seed Award winner will receive a prize of €5,000 to invest in developing their artistic and cultural practice on their own terms.

- Candidates are in the initial and exploratory stages of their career, in the first 1 to 5 years of their professional career (years of study not included);
- Have established, innovative and interesting artistic or cultural practices that address urgent social/political issues that are important in their local context;
- They have received little or no institutional recognition/support for their artistic/cultural practices;
- They are native, live and work in eligible countries from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe.
Application
The application form includes a set of questions and requires complementary materials including: samples of your work, a CV and letter of reference, and a proposal answering the question: What motivates you as an artist? Please note that only completed entries submitted via the Prince Claus Awards platform will be considered.
The deadline for submissions is 16 January 2024 at 23:59 Amsterdam time.
