Applications are now open for the Politician of the Year Award 2024 . According to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, only 2.81 per cent of parliamentarians worldwide are under 30 and only 18.81 per cent of parliamentarians are under 40. In approximately 741,000,000 upper houses, there are no parliamentarians under the age of 30. The lack of representation increases the substantial risk of disconnecting an entire generation from the political processes of their nations.
The World Young Politician of the Year Award was created in 2018 to recognise the most promising young politicians aged between 18 and 35 from around the world. The winners are selected on the basis of the impact they are having in their home countries and how they have used their position to specifically benefit young people. It is the first global award to recognise the work of young politicians and was launched to combat the low level of involvement of young people in politics.

The prize will be awarded to the three winners at the One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, which will take place from 18 to 21 September 2024.

Eligibility
- Open to the most promising young politicians from around the world.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
Selection criteria
- The award winners will be selected by an international panel of judges with unrivalled political experience. The winners will be judged on how they have used their public office to effect positive change in their communities and countries, especially to benefit and represent young people.
