Plan International, with the aim of promoting children's rights and equality for girls, works to ensure that girls are equipped with the tools, platforms, knowledge and resources they need to identify barriers and overcome obstacles, The efforts of girls and young women must be recognised and actively promoted, while protecting them from threats and violence and taking concrete steps to remove structural barriers and systemic disadvantages they face. In this sense, it is also important to look critically at the shrinking of civil society spaces as one of the reasons for creating a platform for women's activism.

In addition, we have learnt from our ongoing engagement with girls and young women that access to adequate human, technical and financial resources is critical to the success of girls' and young women's advocacy efforts. Recognising this, Plan International African Union's Liaison Office is announcing a call for proposals to award a small grant fund to girls and young women with a compelling, practical and impactful advocacy initiative idea that they want to put into action. The overall aim of the award is to encourage and inspire African girls and young women to continue their activism in advancing the rights of children and young women, particularly girls.

If this sounds of interest to you, please apply for the prize by filling in the application form and attaching your detailed proposal. For more information, use the links below to download the call for proposals in English and French.
