Registration for the Canada Gairdner International Award 2025 are now open. Canada's International Gairdner Prize recognises outstanding researchers whose unique scientific contributions have increased the understanding of human biology and disease. The Gairdner Foundation invites the scientific community to nominate qualified researchers for this Award. Nominations in the field of translational research are welcome. The award is intended for seminal work, not cumulative lifetime achievements.
The Canada Gairdner Awards celebrate the world's best biomedical and global health researchers through prestigious annual prizes. - Winners of the International Prize receive a prize of US$ 100,000, a citation and a medal. They attend the Gairdner Week events and the annual Awards Gala at the end of October each year, presenting and celebrating their award-winning work.
Eligibility
Eligible candidate:
- He is an exceptional scientific investigator focussed on research that has transformed the understanding of human biology and disease;
- He produced a distinct set of scientific research contributions, rather than an accumulated lifetime of work;
- They can be co-nominated with equal contributors to the body of work or with those who have made parallel discoveries.
AppointmentNaming elements include:
- Nominee details: contact and basic professional information
- Citation (maximum 150 words): a statement of 1 to 2 sentences identifying the nominee's distinct body of research.
- Research summary (maximum 1,000 words): Summary of the scientific work indicated by the candidate
- Top Five: Top 5 publications related to the research abstract, with a brief summary of impact/importance
- Short CV: 10-20 pages
- Nominee in Context (Max. 1,000 words): Contextualise the nominee's body of work, including:
- Impact on the trajectory or fundamental understanding of your field
- Other significant or potential co-nominated contributors to the work highlighted in the nomination
- Clarification of their individual contributions to collaborative projects and publications.
- Letter of Evaluation (3-5 letters, 2-3 pages): Letter writers should be familiar with the field, be able to provide objective assessments of the candidate and their body of work, not just an endorsement, and should represent a range of stakeholders in the candidate's professional sphere.
