Applications are now open for the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2) Conservation Tech Award 2023 . The EarthRanger programme of the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2) is committed to helping protected areas and conservation organisations protect wildlife and their habitats through the advancement of technology.

AI2 seeks to provide two (2) awards to organisations that have implemented or developed technology to make a positive impact on conservation management, including, but not limited to, the safety of endangered animals, animal behavioural research, anti-poaching enforcement, ecological management and human-wildlife coexistence:

  • Technology Adoption Scholarship: This grant is intended for an organisation that has adopted technology in new or novel ways for conservation management.
  • Technology Practitioner Grant: this grant is for an organisation that has developed technology (e.g. software, applications, AI models/algorithms, hardware) to advance conservation management.

Concession;

  • Each credit is worth $ 15,000 USD,

Eligibility

  • Non-profit and for-profit organisations and protected areas controlled in whole or in part by a non-profit or for-profit organisation are eligible to apply.
  • Both EarthRanger users and non-users are welcome to apply for any of the grants. There is no requirement or advantage for any grant based on an organisation's user status.

Application

  • Online registration must be fully completed by  18th August 2023  and include a contact point on behalf of the organisation. 
  • All applications will be reviewed by AI2 for compliance with applicable laws and U.S. government guidelines for awarding international grants.
  • All candidates must follow  the AI2 Business Partner Code of Conduct .
