Calling changemakers around the world! Sign up for the Opportunity Desk Impact Challenge (ODIC) 2021. The OD Impact Challenge is a global competition that seeks to recognise and support the efforts of young changemakers working to bring positive change to their communities, while projecting and highlighting the impact the Opportunity Desk is having on people's lives around the world.
This year's challenge award is organised in partnership with Vantage MigrationMomentswithbren, Cynthia Untamed, Studentshubgh, Young Transformers and Transcriativa. Thanks to our partners, the 2021 edition comes with many exciting benefits, including up to US$ 1,000 in cash prizes and a fully-funded trip to the Netherlands.
How it works
The competition is simple, challenging participants to answer three main questions in 60 seconds:
- What are you doing to bring positive change to your community? Tell us the problem you're solving and how it's making a difference.
- How is OD making an impact on your life?
- How will the prizes help you if you win?
About Opportunity Desk
OD is an online platform that bridges opportunities for people around the world, creating open access to information and educational resources. These opportunities help facilitate young people's efforts to exchange ideas and prepare for the future. They include: scholarships, conferences, fellowships, awards, jobs, internships and grants aimed at individuals and organisations around the world.
Since its inception in 2012, Opportunity Desk has reached 186,200 people from more than 180 countries around the world. Our website currently attracts more than 500,000 monthly views with around 100,000 people connected and engaged with us on social media.

Eligibility
This global competition is open to changemakers around the world who are actively solving a problem and improving the lives of others in their community.
- Participants aged between 18 and 30 of any nationality are welcome to apply.
- Participants must be active Opportunity Desk users:- You are a fan or follower on our social media pages:- Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and Telegram and you must be subscribed to our Newsletter.
- You are an active follower of Vantage Migration on social media.
- You are actively engaged in your community and have at least 1 year of impact history, whether as an individual, employee or entrepreneur.
Terms and Conditions
- No enrolment fee
- Video submissions must be original, unpublished work by the entrant and must not infringe any copyright laws. The contestant must be the sole author of all entries and have all rights to them. Videos that have won prizes in other competitions are not eligible to participate;
- By entering the competition, video presenters are deemed to have agreed to the use of their videos in OD promotional material;
- The organisers reserve the right to remove and disqualify submitted videos that may cause offence or may be considered inappropriate or unsuitable for this competition;
- The participant must have received permission from the subjects used in the video. Videos that violate the rights of those portrayed or put people at risk will not be considered by the judges;
- Opportunity Desk cannot assume any responsibility for entries that are sent incorrectly or incompletely.
Judgement criteria
The jury, made up of social change leaders and impact drivers, will carefully select the finalists and winners based on the following criteria:
- Innovation
- Project impact
- Sustainability
How to enter the competition
- Step 1: Make a one-minute video telling us:
- a) your name and country;
- b) what you're doing to bring positive change to your community;
- c) how OD is making an impact on your life.
You don't need a sophisticated camera to do this. You can use your smartphone in landscape mode. Just make sure we can see and hear you clearly. Be creative too.
- Step 2: Post your video on your social media page: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. using the hashtags: #ODImpactChallenge #ODIC2021.
- Step 3: Complete online enrolment here before 31 December 2020.
- Step 4: Get ready to vote. The 12 finalists will be contacted and provided with a link to the voting page.
