This year, the Awards will help drive inclusive innovation by creating a fairer low-carbon world - tackling inequality and empowering communities on the frontline of the climate crisis through jobs, skills and training. Ashden winners come in all shapes and sizes. We don't reward the biggest organisations or the slickest marketing pitches - we look for passion, potential and commitment to our values. We put winners on stage at the COP climate talks and in the global media.
VALUE
- Winning an Ashden Award brings a prize of up to £25,000, as well as ongoing development support.
- They put the winners in front of financiers, investors, policy-makers, journalists and others who know the unique value of an Ashden Prize and the strength of our rigorous evaluation process.
- They create promotional films about the winners' work and tell their story in the main and specialised media, and through our growing digital channels. We've helped previous winners gain coverage on Sky News, The Telegraph, Times of India, Al Jazeera, New Scientist and other leading platforms.
- Award winners, opinions, needs and insights are at the centre of our influential reports, toolkits and events - which shape the opinions of key climate decision-makers.
- All winners join the Ashden network - giving them the opportunity to connect with new partners through masterclasses, investor pitching events and presentations to influential policymakers.
ELIGIBILITY
- Companies, NGOs, government organisations, social enterprises and community groups are all eligible.
To be shortlisted and win a prize, all candidates must fulfil these eligibility criteria:
- The work submitted for an award must be currently available to clients, customers or beneficiaries.
- The candidate must demonstrate an innovative approach to their work.
- The candidate's work must have the potential to create a significant impact. This could be achieved by its growth as an organisation, or by replicating its innovation around the world. Applicants must be willing to work with Ashden and others to achieve this."Significant" impact can be a major reduction in emissions, mitigation action that addresses a serious threat to people's well-being, or a transformation in the quality of life of people - particularly the most marginalised.
- The candidate must demonstrate good governance and management. We are looking for efficient use of funds and a strong plan to generate more income, whether from sales, grants or any other source. Organisations can be for-profit or not-for-profit. Winners must have sustainability embedded in their values and practices.
