The Institute of Journalism Arthur L. Carter of New York University is accepting nominations for the Matthew Power Literary Reporting Award.

The award honours the late Power, a journalist who reported with empathy on the human condition and died on assignment in Uganda in March 2014.

The winner will receive $12,500, NYU ID, and full online and on-site research and reference privileges at NYU's Bobst Library.

Non-fiction writers who want to focus on a story that uncovers truths about the human condition can apply for funding.

The organiser says that the prize will not fund proposals for reporting on armed conflicts in which journalists are already needed, nor projects that are primarily investigative.

The deadline for applications is 2 March 2023. Interested candidates can apply here.
