What is the ECOSOC Youth Forum?

  • The ECOSOC Youth Forum is the annual youth forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
  • It serves as a platform that brings together young people from all over the world to take part in discussions on the 2030 Agenda.
  • Participants contribute to political discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their ideas, solutions and innovations.
  • The forum is closely linked to the main UN processes and events within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

  • Youth Blast : Capacity building and training activities on 15 April 2024 in New York.
  • Theme "Strengthening the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions."

Format and Participation

  • The event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both face-to-face and virtual participation.
  • It will consist of opening and closing plenary sessions with representatives of youth organisations and high-level speakers.
  • The young speakers will give short presentations between sessions, sharing personal stories and innovative solutions related to the SDGs.

Importance of the Youth Forum

  • Recognised for its contribution to the 2030 Agenda and the High Level Political Forum.
  • Highlighted in the Secretary-General's report "Critical milestones for coherent, efficient and inclusive global monitoring and review" (A/70/684).

Sign up as a speaker

  • Some places are available for young people to take part as speakers in different sessions of the forum.
  • Funding is available for a limited number of participants (currently 5 funded places, with efforts to expand).
  • Interested parties can register via enrolment form .
  • Deadline for speaker registrations: 24 February 2024, 11pm New York time.
  • The selection process will involve young groups co-designing the sessions.
