Are you between 18 and 32 years old? Do you want to help integrate the voices of urban youth into UN-Habitat's global strategy and initiatives? UN-Habitat is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board (YAB) 2023-2025 !
The Youth Advisory Board is an advisory body that provides UN-Habitat with valuable information and recommendations on strategies for sustainable urban development. Established in 2008, the YAB has played a crucial role in integrating young people's perspectives and promoting youth participation in UN-Habitat's programmes and major events.
Now in its final term, the YAB is looking for passionate and dedicated young people to join its ranks. The board will have representation from each of UN-Habitat's six regions and a commitment to equal gender representation. The UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board is co-organised by the Balikesir Metropolitan Municipality (Türkiye), host of World Habitat Day in 2022.
This is your chance to actively contribute to shaping the future of urban development and ensure that young people's voices are heard and valued. If you are enthusiastic about sustainable urbanisation and eager to make a difference, they encourage you to apply to become a member of UN-Habitat's Youth Advisory Council.
Eligibility
- Be between 18 and 32 years old;
- Be proficient in English;
- Understand the Terms of Reference of the Youth Advisory Council;
- Have a valid passport;
- Commit to attending at least four meetings a year, either virtually or in person;
- Have access to communication technology and a stable Internet connection;
- Commit to involving young people and youth networks in your region in the issue of sustainable urbanisation.
Application
To enrol, fill in the enrolment form, align it with the YAB Terms of Referenceand provide a brief biography and CV and a motivational statement that provides a list of youth-orientated activities you have carried out. All information will be confidential and not shared.
