The Minor Foundation for Major Challenges (MFMC) is a Norwegian foundation that supports communication projects that promote the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Priorities
- The foundation's priorities for the period 2019-2023 are:
- encouraging and supporting innovation in climate communication
- increase the number of voices and narratives in defence of the climate
- help strengthen social and political movements that are open to radical change
- focus on supporting European proposals
Categories
- Large subsidies
- In this category, the MFMC is usually looking for projects in the range of 20,000 to 200,000 euros, although larger projects can be considered. The application process consists of two stages, where interested organisations are invited to initially submit a short proposal. Based on this, the organisation may be invited to submit a full application if the MFMC board finds the project attractive.
- Small subsidies
- In this category, it is possible to apply for smaller grants of up to 10,000 euros in a simplified one-stage process. Applications will be assessed by the MFMC board on the basis of their objectives and strategy.
Duration
- The average duration of supported projects is one year. Grants are generally not awarded for longer periods. If you present convincing arguments for a longer project period, the board may make an exception. The project must be carried out within the stipulated timeframe.
Election criteria
- The calls are open to international candidates.
- The MFMC supports projects that support urgent, large-scale transformation, with a focus on changing policies and practices in public or private institutions.
- The foundation only considers applications that clearly fit in with its strategy.
- You can submit one application per user account for each competition. This means that you can apply for a small and a large grant at the same time, but you cannot submit two or more applications for a large (or small) grant.
- If your organisation wants to apply for large grants for two or more different projects, you will have to apply for a second (and so on) user account. A new contact person must be appointed for each user account.
- Please note that the foundation will not consider applications that have a purely local focus, that concentrate on implementing community-level projects such as forest conservation, tree planting, climate change adaptation, or that primarily seek to disseminate climate-related information to the general public. public.
