Applications open for the Global Leadership Challenge 2022

A joint initiative of the St Gallen Symposium and the University of Oxford, GLC 2022 will bring together 100 young leaders from 8 to 12 December to equip them with the values and skills needed to build a sustainable future.

The Global Leadership Challenge (GLC) aims to help emerging leaders grow in the wisdom and character needed for responsible leadership that makes a difference in the world - leadership that doesn't just seek to fulfil personal ambition, but promotes the sustainable development of societies. The GLC is a joint initiative of the University of Oxford and the St Gallen Symposium.

From 8 to 12 December, GLC 2022 will focus on "A New Generational Contract". In the light of environmental crises, rapid technological change and global demographic shifts, the gaps between the generations are widening. How can intergenerational dialogue and guidance help us become more responsible leaders? And how can our actions enable greater intergenerational justice and collaboration?

To tackle these issues, GLC 2022 will bring together 100 promising young leaders and 20 senior advisors to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time, integrating responsible leadership and practical action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Applications for the GLC are open until 24 October for graduate students and young professionals from all over the world, aged between 21 and 30. Applicants will be assessed on their commitment to responsible leadership and passion for engaging with complex global challenges. The GLC is looking for a diverse group of graduate students and young professionals who are ready to face the challenges of our time and develop into the responsible leaders our world desperately needs right now.

GLC members can join virtually from all over the world and most of the GLC sessions will be online. Those joining from Oxford and St Gallen will attend the sessions on 12 May in person.

All active participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement. Judged by an awards jury, the group with the most outstanding project idea will be able to attend the 51st St Gallen Symposium as Leaders of Tomorrow. After the GLC, GLC members can request additional guidance in two tracks: "entrepreneurship" (with EWOR Education) to learn skills and competences to build their own ventures and "leadership development" (with the Oxford Character Project at the University of Oxford) to reflect on their own purpose and grow as a future leader.
