Deadline: 30 September 2024

Applications are now open for the Science for Women 2024 Programme of the Mujeres por África Foundation (FMxA) . The Science for Women programme, initiated by the Women for Africa Foundation, aims to empower African women in scientific research and technology transfer to tackle crucial challenges in various sectors such as health, agriculture, food security, water, energy and climate change. It offers post-doctoral scholarships in collaboration with renowned Spanish Centres of Excellence.

The duration of the scholarship is 6 continuous months, to be completed within 1.5 years or 2 years, depending on the host research organisation, from the date of publication of the final selection of beneficiaries. The ultimate aim of the programme is to support African women researchers in playing a leading role in the continent's transition to a knowledge-based, innovation-led economy and thus in transforming people's daily lives.

Benefits

Successful candidates will have access to the following benefits:

  • Roundabout flights from the city of origin to the host city.
  • Monthly subsistence allowance of 2,600 euros gross per month, to which a rate of 24% applies. This stipend is intended to cover accommodation, personal expenses and health and emergency insurance.
  • Coverage of visa fees and any administrative costs arising from the visa application process.
  • Possibility of financial support for participation in seminars or congresses during the period of the scholarship in Spain, after appropriate assessment by the Science for Women programme team.

All beneficiaries of the Science for Women programme are responsible for ensuring their own accommodation during their 6-month stay in the host city.
