Applications are now open for the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) Africa Photography Awards 2024 . With vast natural resources to support its food systems, livelihoods, markets and a growing youth population, Africa has an unprecedented opportunity to restore its degraded landscapes, fulfil the needs of its people and pave a sustainable path for all of humanity.
The Global Landscapes Forum is delighted to announce the launch of the GLF Africa 2024 Photography Awards. Whether you're a professional or amateur photographer, they'd love to see your photos showcasing the continent's vast landscapes in all their grandeur.
They want to show the world impressive images of Africa's diverse peoples and their way of life in its diverse landscapes. So get your cameras ready and take the best pictures of Africa's rainforests, grasslands, arid lands, peat bogs, swamps, ocean and coastlines - and livelihoods.
Prizes
- Cash prizes of R$ 400 (1st place), R$ 300 (2nd place) and R$ 200 (popular vote).
- A press release and interview on ThinkLandscape.
- A showcase at the GLF Africa 2024 Hybrid Conference.
Eligibility
- Open to anyone aged 18 or over, whether you're a photography enthusiast or a professional photographer.
- By submitting your photo, you agree to follow the rules, terms and conditions of these prizes.
- Photos that have already won other photographic prizes will not be considered.
Selection criteria
All entries will be analysed by a panel of judges selected by the GLF, who will select up to 25 photos from all eligible entries received during the awards period. The finalists will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- Creativity (30%)
- Photo quality (30%)
- Composition (30%)
- Execution of the theme (10%)
The GLF will publish the finalist entries on its online platforms. The judging panel will choose the first and second prize winners from the finalist entries, while the public will be invited to vote online for their favourite entry. The entry with the most votes will receive the 'popular vote' award. The GLF team will ensure that the first prize, second prize and popular vote winners are selected from different entrants.

- The file sent must include the title of the photo, the name of the contributor and contact information, including email address, social media handles (if applicable) and a caption listing the subject and location.
