Who they're looking for

Through this Open Call, the EIT Food is looking for innovative ideas for public involvement projects with social impact potential, to be tested in a Proof of Concept (PoC) phase.

What is a Proof of Concept?

A Proof of Concept is a scoping exercise to test whether an idea, a particular concept or an approach when transformed in reality would bring social impact as predicted. Through this call, we offer an opportunity for individual organisations or small consortia to spend sufficient time testing and demonstrating the relevance of the proposed approach to establish the idea's social impact viability. The Proof of Concept phase can also be used to build a scale-up model for a multi-year project.

The topics selected for the Concept Tests must support the EIT Food's visiona world where everyone can access and enjoy sustainable, safe and healthy food - with confidence and fairness from farm to fork.

EIT Food is working to achieve this four Impact Objectives:

  • Improving conditions to increase public confidence in the food system
  • Better health results from our diet
  • Improving the environmental impact of agri-food systems
  • Enabling transitions to a circular and sustainable economy

The project ideas Proof of Concepts should aim to:

  • Equipping individuals to make more informed (healthier/sustainable) choices
  • Increasing transparency and engagement in the food system
  • Include consumer involvement in shaping the future food system
