The Ecobank Fintech Challenge 2023 is a pan-African innovation competition and business cooperation programme with the aim of broadening the reach of cutting-edge products related to fintechs and banks. It was created to inspire, support and partner with African fintechs.
Through the Ecobank Fintech Challenge, fintechs that are ready to scale are found, partnered and given access to opportunities in Ecobank's 35 African markets. The aim is to support their development as potential Pan-African fintech success stories.
Eligibility
- All fintechs with a product focused on Africa or relevant in Africa are eligible to apply for the fintech challenge.
- These products must address one or more of a specific set of problem areas:
- Customer experience
- Financial inclusion
- Credit score
- Ecosystem Aggregation
- Internal tools
- Payments
- Any other relevant product categories

Become a finalist; be introduced as an Ecobank Fintech Fellow and have the chance to explore the following opportunities:
- Once in a lifetime opportunity to pursue integration with Ecobank and potentially launch products in Ecobank's more than 30 markets across Africa.
- The top three finishers in the Challenge will receive cash prizes of US$ 15,000, US$ 12,000 and US$ 10,000 respectively.
- Start-ups can be selected by Ecobank as local partners at country level in any of Ecobank's 33 country ecosystems.
- The fellows will have access to a dedicated team to support Ecobank's API testing, to enable Ecobank to improve its products for the pan-African market.
- The founders will be inducted as Ecobank Fintech Fellows, giving them access and relationships to a vast network of global and African accelerators, potential investors as well as mentors.
- The Challenge offers opportunities for Fintechs to potentially integrate with Ecobank's existing digital offerings. Existing digital offerings include Ecobank Omni, Ecobank electronic financial supply chain (eFSC), Ecobank Xpress, Ecobank Mobile APP or USSD, MasterPass™ QR, mVISA™ and mCash, etc.
