Applications are now open for the Regional Youth Champions 2024 Digital Transformation Programme for the Health Lab . The first group of Regional Youth Champions (RYC) was created to champion the report's key recommendations for improving the health and well-being of young people at regional and national levels. RYC represents eight different regions based on the groupings used by the Sustainable Development Goals, including Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa and West Asia, Central and South Asia, East and South-East Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand, Oceania, Europe and North America.
The role of the Champions is as follows, but not limited to:
- Support the development of events, articles and other products led by DTH-Lab;
- To provide insights and knowledge on the three strands of DTH-Lab's work;
- Collaborate with other RYC to provide written/oral contributions;
- Support in building partnerships with key stakeholders and other youth networks;
- Sharing strategic and innovative ideas that support DTH-Lab's global vision and mission;
- Serve as messengers and disseminators of DTH-Lab's work at regional level;
- Ensure that the main results are distributed on social media platforms such as Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc...;
- Involved in partnerships to learn about scholarly communications in the digital health space, with an emphasis on understanding and contributing to the peer review process;
- Improving the diversity and inclusion of young people in the #MyHealthFutures Youth Network;
- Take part in panel discussions, podcasts and other forms of knowledge-sharing platforms like young champions.
Stipend
- To support the work of the Regional Youth Champion, DTH-Lab will provide a monthly stipend of US$ 200 for the period 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025. RYC should plan to spend around 7 hours per month dedicated to this role.
Eligibility
- You are between 18 and 30 years old at the time of enrolment.
- You live in the region you are running to represent for the full term.
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Practical knowledge and/or the ability to translate into other UN languages is an added advantage.
- You have access to a bank account.
Interests
- You are passionate about global health governance, the future of health, digital health transformations, data solidarity and/or UHC.
- They have similar fundamental values for digital health governance, such as democracy, solidarity, inclusion, equity and human rights.
Experience
- You are pursuing a professional career in health, STEM, international affairs and/or governance.
- You have experience or training in communication, advocacy, policy writing and/or research.
- You have leadership experience in promoting change and/or innovation.
- Training or experience in forward thinking or forecasting is an added advantage.
Networks
- You are part of a youth network and/or have experience with youth networks at a regional and/or local level.
- You use social networks to share knowledge and are well connected with other young people.
- You have excellent practical knowledge of digital platforms and the use of technology to increase digital engagement.
