In November 2024, the government of Colombia, in collaboration with partners such as the Government of Sweden, WHO, UNICEF and the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative on ending violence against children, will host the first Global Ministerial Conference to End Violence Against Children. Children. This historic event aims to prioritise the protection of the one billion children around the world affected by violence.

Restless Development, in partnership with the WHO, seeks to ensure that young people's voices and perspectives are central to these critical discussions. We will directly involve 10 young people from WHO "Bright Spot" countries, aged 18-24, empowering them to advocate for meaningful commitments to end violence against children at the Ministerial Conference.

About the role

As a Youth Mobiliser, you will play a vital role in promoting progress towards ending violence against children. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in Youth Power Labs online to improve your skills in defence of rights, communication and protection.
  • Collaborate with other Youth Mobilisers to co-create national and global advocacy plans.
  • Engage with government decision-makers, child rights activists and other stakeholders to promote policy change.
  • Representing the youth perspective at the Global Ministerial Meeting in November 2024.
  • Participate in Leadership Lab discussions to share knowledge and perspectives with other young leaders.

Skills and experience

  • Aged between 18 and 24.
  • Passionate about youth development and leadership.
  • Fluent in English, Arabic, Spanish or French (written and spoken).
  • Ideally based on the WHO's "Bright Spot" countries.
  • Previous experience or knowledge of violence against children is desirable.
