The Geneva Challenge, hosted by the Graduate Institute of International Development Studies, is a project funded by the Swiss Ambassador, Jenö Staehelin, and aims to encourage interdisciplinary problem-solving analyses among master's students on the advancement of human development within the framework of a relevant topic.

The International Competition 2023″ for Advanced Development Goals for Postgraduate Students" aims to present innovative and pragmatic solutions to tackle the challenges of loneliness.

VALUE

  • The winning project will receive a cash prize of CHF 10,000 (ten thousand Swiss francs). The two teams in second place will receive CHF 5,000 each. The two teams in third place will receive CHF 2,500 each.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Participants in the ADG 2022 competition must be registered as graduate students when they register for the competition.
  • Participants should meet in teams of 3 (three) to 5 (five) graduate students. In the analysis presented, they must contribute an interdisciplinary approach or from at least 2 (two) different disciplinary perspectives.
  • All team members must provide a scanned copy of a document that serves as proof of enrolment as a graduate student before the team's enrolment can be confirmed and validated.
  • The applications are assessed by an interdisciplinary academic steering committee that will select three applications per category to be published on the competition website and then reviewed by an independent jury of experts from academic, government and private sector backgrounds.
  • Five finalist teams, one team per continent, will be invited (travel and accommodation expenses covered) to an oral presentation in Geneva, where they will defend their presentations and answer questions from the jury. The finalists will also be invited to an awards ceremony, where the results of the competition will be announced, preceded by a high-level speech with keynotes.
