Registration for the ReSAKSS Data Challenge 2023 are now open. This competition allows liberated data users to showcase their creativity and analytical skills using data and other resources on the ReSAKSS website and related digital platforms to develop innovative knowledge, products or projects that address Africa's development challenges.

The ReSAKSS Data Challenge aims to provide reliable data and considerable knowledge products on the ReSAKSS platform and encourage its use by actors from academia, business, politics, the media, the arts and civil society in general.

More specifically, the ReSAKSS Data Challenge seeks to:

  • Present the ReSAKSS platform and its associated tools to the African public: students, researchers, analysts, media specialists, artists, entrepreneurs and anyone interested in Africa in social and economic development in Africa and related data and knowledge products;
  • Raise awareness of the availability of specific data provided by AKADEMIYA2063 through the ReSAKSS, eAtlas and AAgWa websites.
  • Encourage participants in the challenge to fully exploit the range of data and indicators on the ReSAKSS platforms;
  • Stimulate the use of innovative data on African economies to create knowledge, tools and artistic products and services that contribute to efforts to address issues of strategic importance to African society.

Categories

Prizes will be awarded to the best works in the following categories:

  • Category 1 - Essays and Reports: The most innovative research paper, article, essay or magazine article that brings solutions to African issues.
  • Category 2 - Visual Arts: The most innovative infographic, illustration, video
  • Category 3 - IT products and services: The most innovative applications and tools
  • Category 4 - High School Projects: The most innovative high school project

Eligibility

  • Open to anyone in Africa and the diaspora who is passionate about data and aims to create innovative content, products or services relevant to the social and economic development issues facing African countries.
  • The participants seen include, but are not limited to, researchers, analysts and students from all disciplines, artists, media specialists, programmers, developers, high school teams.
