The International Centre for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) is pleased to invite proposals to develop and pilot an interactive online platform or application for civic space in West Africa.

The aim of the platform is to share information on trends in civic space and to promote collaboration and dialogue between civil society, the media and academics in West Africa. The platform should be bilingual in French and English.

Financing information

  • A grant of up to US$ 15,000 will be awarded.
  • The project should be completed by 15 December 2022.

Eligibility criteria

  • Proposals are welcome from registered non-profit organisations and networks operating in any West African country.
  • The successful candidate will have a broad reach or association of CSOs working on civic space issues, i.e. responding to threats or violations of civil society's rights of association, assembly and expression in West Africa.

Selection criteria

Entries will be judged on the following factors:

  • Compliance with eligibility requirements and application procedures;
  • Experience in the area of the proposed project;
  • Ability to fulfil concession requirements and deadlines;
  • Quality of the proposal, including innovation, feasibility and likely impact;
  • Project schedule;
  • Reasonableness and level of budget; vii. Reasonable indicator and clearly articulated results and impact of the project; viii. Sustainability of the proposed project beyond the concession period.
