Deadline: 20 June 2024

Entries are now open for the Royal Society of Biology Photo Competition 2024. The Royal Society of Biology's annual photography competition invites amateurs to submit photographs on a specific theme. The theme of the 2024 Photo Competition is Transforming Life.

They invite entries that explore the profound changes taking place on our planet, highlighting the resilience and adaptability of life in response to environmental change, human intervention and scientific innovation. Including but not limited to:

  • Ecosystem dynamics and biodiversity: explore the transformations in various natural or managed ecosystems, from microscopic to macroscopic views, or on a landscape scale.
  • From single cells or small multicellular life to megafauna and flora; from life in one place to mass migrations, or wildlife living in unexpected places such as towns and cities.
  • Humans transforming life: reflecting on humanity's reciprocal relationship with the natural world, including the creation of new habitat areas on land or in the oceans
  • Scientific innovation in the biosciences, including climate change mitigation measures and examples of the beneficial and transformative impact of the work and innovation of bioscientists
