The Power of Photography: Capturing Stories of Climate Change and Food Security
The CIFOR-ICRAF 2024 Photo Contest invites young creatives to capture the power of images to tell stories about climate change and food security. This competition provides a platform for young photographers to express their unique perspectives and inspire action for a more sustainable future.
Climate change and food security are interlinked, affecting communities around the world. The competition aims to highlight the human stories behind these global challenges, encouraging participants to explore the consequences and solutions to these pressing issues.
Photographers are invited to submit images that portray the impacts of climate change on communities, adaptation and mitigation efforts and innovations that promote food security. Photos should be original, creative and evoke emotions that inspire change.
The competition is open to young people aged 18 to 35 from all backgrounds. Participants can submit up to five high-resolution photos, accompanied by captions that provide context and insights into the stories behind the images.
A jury of experts in photography, climate change and food security will select the winning photos. The winners will receive cash prizes, international recognition and the opportunity to exhibit their work on global platforms.
As well as recognising exceptional photographic talent, the competition aims to raise awareness of the importance of photography as a tool for telling stories and promoting change. The winning images will be used to create a travelling exhibition and communication materials that highlight the power of photography to inspire action.
