They will assess the essays based on the following criteria:
- Fluency in written English
- Relevance to the issue
- Consistency
- Creativity and originality of ideas
- Use of evidence or examples
- Relevance to OxBright's world vision
Application
The essay has three parts:
- Essay title: the title of your essay can be up to 100 characters long, including spaces
- Essay: your essay can be up to 3,800 characters long, including spaces (that's about 500 words). This includes everything you write, such as the main text and in-text instructions. In-text citations are small notes you put in your essay to show where your information came from. For example, if you quote something from a book by John Smith, you would add (Smith, 2010, p. 50) right after the quote. These instructions are part of your word count, so make sure you include them.
- References: as for references, there is no word limit - you can include as many as you need! They are important to show where your information came from. Use Harvard Reference Style for your references (you can find out how to do this in the guidelines provided here). This won't count towards your essay character limit, so list all the sources you've used.
