Deadline: 31 December 2023
Applications are now open for the UPG sustainability leadership course 2024 . Sustainability Leadership UPG is a movement that mobilises individuals and organisations to support positive citizen leadership in sustainability. It is a movement that encourages and enables citizens at all levels to take positive action. A movement inspired by UPG's commitment to doing what you can with what you have, rather than waiting for someone else to act. It's a movement that embodies the notion that everyone can do something to make the world more sustainable.
UPG believes that sustainability includes BOTH the usual "green" issues, such as planting trees, recycling waste, managing energy, protecting the oceans, AND other issues that have long been central to societies, such as: education, health, jobs, gender equality, sustainable consumption, sustainable production and much more. For those familiar with the subject, UPG uses the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guide. The main activity is the #UPGS sustainability leadership training programme for more than 500 young adults from all over the world every year.
Benefits
- Participation in UPG Sustainability Leadership is FREE for selected participants. All 500 participants will receive free online training and will be certified as UPG Sustainability Leaders upon completion of the course.
- Participants selected for the 1-week immersive excursion will have the costs of the programme covered - training material, accommodation, subsistence, local transport, international flights (one return flight from the participant's home city to the USA).
Eligibility
Open to:
- People who are passionate about a specific area (e.g. jobs, education or oceans) don't need to be passionate about all areas.
- People who have already taken action on sustainability AND people who have NEVER taken action.
- People from all over the world.
- People aged 18 to 35 between 1st March and 31st July 2024.
- People with different levels of education.
- People who have a strong motivation to be UPG Sustainability Leaders.
- People who are willing and able to act in favour of sustainability.
- People who believe in UPG's mission to empower people to make the world a better place through positive action.
Evaluation
The assessment is made by analysing the following four sections of your application:
- Profile - who are you? This helps them fight for diversity.
- Motivation - why do you want to be a UPG Sustainability Leader?
- Capacity - how capable are you of doing what you want?
- Impact potential - what is the potential of your initial ideas?
Application
As part of this application, it is highly recommended that you send a short video (maximum 2 minutes) to answer any of the questions in any section above or to tell them more about yourself. Among other things, the video helps them assess your English language skills. You can submit this video by including a link to the video in the application now (there's a section in the application for this). Or you can fill in the form first and mention that you'll make the video later. Then send a link to your video here . For your video to be considered, it must be submitted on time.
