The EQUALS Global Partnership invites nominations for the 2024 EQUALS in Tech Awards . They want to hear about initiatives, projects, movements, organisations and institutions around the world that are working to bridge the digital gender divide.
Each year, EQUALS invites applications from committed and creative initiatives that aim to provide women and girls with equal access to the Internet, the necessary digital skills and career opportunities in the technology sector. EQUALS also recognises its partners with the Special Recognition Partner Award. The awards recognise a global, multi-sector group of partners who share a commitment to gender equality in the digital age. The winners join a strong community of support and expand their networks.
The annual EQUALS in Tech awards are organised and presented by the EQUALS Global Partnership - a network of more than 100 NGOs, private sector companies, international organisations and research institutions - whose founding partners include the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UN Women, International Trade Centre, GSMA and the United Nations University. Together, the partnership works to bring the benefits of information and communication technologies (ICT) to women and girls and to help women succeed in the technology sector.
Categories
The award categories are:
- Access: Initiatives related to improving women's and girls' access, connectivity and security to digital technology.
- Skills: Initiatives that support the development of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) skills in women and girls.
- Leadership in Technology: Initiatives focused on promoting women in decision-making positions in the ICT area.
- Leadership in SMEs: Initiatives promoted by companies in the technology sector to bridge the digital gender divide.
- Research: Initiatives that prioritise research into digital gender divides and produce reliable evidence to address diversity issues in the STEM and computing fields.
Benefits
- The winners join a strong and active support community and expand their networks among organisations with common goals.
- Winning the EQUALS in Tech award offers opportunities to connect with entrepreneurs, investors, activists, researchers and like-minded leaders from intergovernmental agencies, academia and the private sector.
- EQUALS often asks winners to promote their work through various channels.
- Finally, the winners are invited to take part in an Advisory Panel that chooses future award winners.
Eligibility
- Open to all individuals and organisations, regardless of their language or nationality, who wish to submit projects aimed at promoting gender equality through ICT.
- Eligible initiatives and projects must
- Reach girls and women in an impactful way
- Have the potential to scale or be replicated once reconfigured/adapted to other contexts
- Be innovative
- Working in collaboration with partners
