About the competition
The ChallengeUS Future Leaders Competition is an innovative platform dedicated to nurturing the potential of young visionaries around the world. Our mission is clear: to promote critical thinking, creativity and leadership skills among the next generation.
Through a series of competitions, participants are invited to express their perspectives and ideas through speaking and/or writing. Whether addressing pressing global issues, proposing innovative solutions or exploring emerging trends, we encourage participants to push the boundaries of conventional thinking and unleash their creativity.

- 18th March: opening of the competition
- 9 June: closing the competition
Main prize:
- US$ 250: Awarded to the top finishers in each entry category
Prompt for spring 2024:
"Through youth-led initiatives, advocacy and grassroots efforts, young people's voices and perspectives have proven to be vital catalysts for change. What do you see as the role of young people in a functioning society?"
Shipping categories
Essay submission:
Participants are invited to submit an original piece of writing in response to the prompt. From personal narratives to analytical essays, we welcome all forms of writing that demonstrate thoughtfulness, creativity and insight.
Sending a speech:
Participants can submit a video showing off their public speaking skills, giving an original speech addressing the request. We encourage participants to speak passionately and persuasively, conveying their unique perspectives and ideas.
Eligibility, guidelines and prizes
Eligibility:
- Open to students from all over the world currently enrolled in high school or college/university
- Students on sabbatical academic years or semesters are also eligible
- Submissions must be in English and original
Guidelines:
- No use of AI or plagiarism
- Submissions must be up to 1250 words in PDF format
- Speech submissions must not exceed 10 minutes and must be in MP4 format
Prizes:
- First, second and third place winners will be recognised, along with Honourable Mentions
- The top finishers in each category will receive a cash prize of US$ 250
- The winning entries will be published by ChallengeUS

1. When will I be notified of the results of the competition?
- The results of the competition will be announced on the ChallengeUS website in August 2024.
2. Can I send an essay and a speech?
- Yes! We encourage participants to submit both, but they will only be recognised in one category.
3. I've already sent it, but I'd like to resend it before the deadline. What can I do?
- You can resubmit using the submission form for the respective competition division (essay/speech). Your last submission will be considered final.
4. I'm having trouble submitting my essay. What can I do?
- Send an email to admin@challengeusnow.org for assistance.
5. I missed the deadline. Can I get an extension?
- Unfortunately, there are no extensions to the deadline.
6. I have a question that isn't covered in the guidelines or FAQs. What should I do?
