The Alexander von Humboldt International Centre of Excellence at the University of Bayreuth promotes outstanding research and fosters international collaboration. The Centre is now accepting applications for its 2025 Fellowship Programme, which is open to scholars from all disciplines.*

- Senior Scholarships: Prize €40,000
- Junior Scholarships: Prize €20,000
These grants provide recipients with financial support to cover the costs associated with their research projects. Additionally, grantees accompanied by at least one child are entitled to a monthly family allowance of €250.
Program goals:
The Center aims to break down barriers between disciplines, cultures, and generations. It encourages the exchange of ideas between established and emerging academics and supports initiatives that link the research community to broader social and political issues. Successful applicants will benefit from the dynamic research environment of the University of Bayreuth and its seven faculties.
Experience Bayreuth – Collaborate with a local host:
Fellows will conduct research with a local host at the University of Bayreuth. Before applying, candidates must identify a university researcher who will serve as their host. The host will provide office and laboratory space and access to the latest infrastructure. The fellowship duration is flexible, ranging from three to six months, and may be divided into several stages.
Candidate Requirements:
The scholarship is awarded to international academics with innovative and high-quality research projects through a rigorous, merit-based selection process. The main selection criteria are the candidate's academic excellence and the proposed project.

The Bayreuth Humboldt Center (BHC) is offering short-term fellowships for 2024 to promote international research collaboration at the University of Bayreuth. These fellowships are open to academics from all disciplines.*
Details of the concession:
- Short-term subsidies: intended for stays of 1 to 3 weeks
- Coverage: Travel and accommodation expenses, up to a maximum of €3,500.
These grants cover travel and accommodation costs, enabling researchers to participate in short-term projects at the University of Bayreuth.
Program goals:
The BHC promotes academic exchange across disciplines, cultures, and age groups. Applicants are encouraged to explore the research strengths and areas of focus of the University of Bayreuth.
