Are you an emerging artist or a storyteller about the world of entrepreneurship in Africa? Then the Tony Elumelu Fund for Storytellers is ideal for you.
The Tony Elumelu Fund for Storytellers calls for applications from emerging artists, journalists and content creators, including bloggers, vloggers and podcasters, whose work offers a more contemporary and authentic account of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs in Africa.
This project is jointly financed by Heirs Insurance and Heirs Life Assurance.
Financing information
The Fund will grant financial support worth between $500 e $2000 to each selected participant.
Projects should focus on two areas: Media and Arts.
Media
Media include Bloggers, Vloggers e Journalists.
Examples of projects:
- A series of published articles identifying innovative technology entrepreneurs
- A Vlog showcasing entrepreneurs in under-represented areas
- A blog about African innovation
Art
- Art grants will be awarded to photographers, filmmakers, designers, painters and digital artists
- Examples of projects:
- A comical, light-hearted short film that tells the story of an 11-year-old entrepreneur - a series of photographs of top African businessmen, etc.
What kind of content does the ANF want to support?
They are particularly interested in supporting storytellers who tell an interesting and unique story about Entrepreneurship in Africa; the stories amplify unheard voices, challenge global perspectives and introduce contemporary narratives.
This Fund allows for a lot of creativity and innovation - applicants should put themselves in the shoes of their readers or viewers, and think about what they want them to get out of their project and the kind of impact they want to create, locally and globally.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have between 18 and 35 years old of age and live on the continent or in the Diaspora. They must have a platform or portfolio that changes stereotypical narratives about youth and entrepreneurship in Africa.
