What is the Africa Leadership Accelerator?
The Africa Leadership Accelerator brings GHC's acclaimed global health leadership curriculum to emerging public health leaders working in organisations in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia. This nine-month programme includes virtual leadership academy workshops, in-person retreats, executive coaching, career mentoring and more, all while participants continue to work in their current organisations.

- Strengthen your leadership identity: Develop a clearer sense of your leadership strengths and weaknesses, understand how others see you, articulate your personal values, explore your role in advancing health equality and craft your leadership vision.
- Expand and leverage your networks: adopt practices to strategically broaden your network and gain critical insights to advance your leadership. Join GHC's global community of more than 1,200 alumni and advisors.
- Understand how the changes happen: use frameworks and tools to analyse the systems in which you work, understand how changes occur and develop strategies to leverage changes in the systems.
- Apply the lessons in real time: apply the lessons learnt from the Leadership Academy workshops directly to your current projects and challenges.
- Access additional resources: take advantage of GHC's webinars, additional training, networking opportunities and community impact team resources.
Programme components
The Africa Leadership Accelerator combines virtual and face-to-face learning opportunities. The programme is free for fellows, covering all virtual programming, travel, accommodation and meals for face-to-face retreats. Fellows are expected to dedicate 6 to 8 hours per month to the programme. Once a Fellow, always a Fellow - after the programme, you join GHC's lifelong global network of more than 1,200 alumni.

Online application process and timetable
The application process assesses your willingness and ability to become fully involved in the fellowship and your suitable leadership for the GHC community. You must be nominated to access the application.
Appointment process:
- The nominees can be recommended by:
- Organisational representatives (HR, Executive Director, Programme Manager)
- Manager or supervisor
- Colleague
- GHC alumni or scholarship holders
- Once you have been nominated, you will receive an e-mail with a link to the registration portal and further instructions.

Election criteria
- Age 21-35 by 1st September 2024
- Citizen of Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda or Zambia
- Currently employed full-time in a non-clinical public health role for at least six months
- Employed by a public health organisation in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda or Zambia with express support for their participation
- There are no specific education or training requirements
