Understanding the Just Tech Fellowship

At a time when technology is rapidly reshaping our world, it is crucial to move beyond the influence of policymakers and Big Tech titans. The Just Tech Fellowship recognizes that communities are home to brilliant individuals – artists, activists, technologists, and thinkers – who have cultivated fertile ground for equitable change. By providing a nurturing ecosystem, the fellowship aims to empower these individuals to continue their impactful work.

While the world grapples with a legacy of systemic discrimination, the fellowship envisions reshaping the boundaries and potential of new technologies. It emphasizes that experience and experiential knowledge should inform efforts to foster structural change. The Just Tech Fellowship and its members aspire to build technological futures that embody justice, equity, agency, knowledge, and joy.

Nabiha Syed, a member of the Just Tech Advisory Board and president of The Markup, praises the fellowship, stating: “The Just Tech Fellowship creates a community of leaders who move from 'we know this isn't working for us' to 'let's build something that actually works for us' […] This is incredible at a time when optimism seems a little scarce.”
