Deadline: 25 October 2024
Applications are now open for the Jean Monnet Scholarships 2025-2026 . The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies offers one-year Jean Monnet fellowships to academics who have obtained their doctorate more than five years before the start of the fellowship, i.e. 1 September 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year. The scholarship programme is open to postdoctoral fellows, permanent academics and those who wish to spend their sabbatical at the Centre. The Centre offers up to 20 fellowships per year: they invite you to be part of a lively and creative academic community!
Jean Monnet fellows are based at the Robert Schuman Centre and associated with one of the Centre's projects and programmes. They are expected to actively participate in the academic life of the Centre and contribute to the activities of the project or programme they are associated with. They may participate in the activities of the EUI's postdoctoral programme and are encouraged to collaborate with researchers, other postdocs and academic staff at the EUI.

- The basic grant is €2,500 per month. Successful applicants who receive other grants or salaries must disclose this to the EUI. The stipend will be set at a lower rate (minimum €1,750 per month) depending on the amount of additional income (upon presentation of the relevant supporting documents).
- A family allowance of up to 300 euros per month is paid to scholarship holders with a partner if the partner lives with them in Florence and provided that the partner's income is less than 2,000 euros per month. The sum of the income and the allowance cannot exceed €2,000 per month (i.e. if the income is more than €1,700, the allowance will only be paid to top up to €2,000). There is a dependant's allowance of 200 euros per month for each dependent child, if they live with the scholar in Florence.
- Scholars (but not their family members) receive reimbursement for the inbound journey from their place of origin to Florence and for the outbound journey to their destination at the end of the scholarship. The maximum amount for travel reimbursement is €1,200, including inbound and outbound travel. Reimbursement of higher amounts and any additional costs may be authorised by the Centre Director upon special justified request. Taxi fares are not reimbursed.
