In 2018, the region of Gävleborg, Sweden, created the International World Heritage Residence Scholarship at the World Heritage Site "Decorated Country Houses of Hälsingland". The 5th call for applications is now open until 15 February 2023. One of the aims of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention is to create links between people and promote international co-operation. Peace is a central concept. This World Heritage Residency Scholarship builds on these ideas to generate interest in and understanding of humanity's common memory through World Heritage sites. The World Heritage Residency Scholarship consists of two parts: a one-month residency at one of the seven World Heritage farms, Kristofers in Stene or Erik-Anders in Asta; and a sum of approximately 4500 euros (SKR 50,000) to be used for a project that has an international dimension and builds bridges between World Heritage sites in an artistic or cultural way.

ELIGIBILITY
The grant is international and can be applied for by people from all over the world, such as researchers, artists or other cultural actors
The Gävleborg Region awards the residency grant for the Hälsingland Decorated Farmhouses World Heritage Site to a person who has an idea related to the UNESCO World Heritage list and can link the Halsingland Decorated Farmhouses to another World Heritage Site in an artistic, cultural or research way.
