Black academics are among the most underrepresented in postdoctoral positions, faculty positions, and university leadership. Based on the recommendations of the Anti-Black Racism Campus Climate Review and reinforced by the PDFStanding Strong Committee recommendations, and as part of a broader commitment to equity in recognition of barriers to equal educational and employment opportunities, TMU implements this programme with the goals of building a more diverse and inclusive academy, and supporting the flourishing of Black scholarship. In particular, this programme seeks to expand and promote Black scholarship and intellectual traditions, and to support the academic endeavours of the Black community.
