Applications are now open for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO Doctoral Scholarship 2024 . According to an agreement between the Alliance of International Scientific Organisations (ANSO), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS/UNESCO) for the advancement of science in developing countries, up to 50 students/academics from developing countries will be sponsored to study in China for a PhD for up to 4 years.
The ANSO Young Talent Scholarship was formally launched in 2019 with the aim of training and nurturing young scientists from around the world. The ANSO scholarship supports 200 master's students and 300 doctoral students every year to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) or the institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) around China.

This year, a sub-category of the ANSO Scholarship: the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO Doctoral Scholarship is being officially launched. Echoing the TWAS/UNESCO priority, special (not exclusive) attention will be paid to two target groups: least developed countries (LDCs) and women. Up to 50 doctoral students from developing countries in the South will be selected by TWAS/UNESCO for this category each year.

- Eligible candidates must NOT have Chinese citizenship;
- Be citizens of eligible developing countries in the South ( Southern Developing Countries | TWAS)
- Be proficient in English or Chinese;
- For applicants to the doctoral programme: must have been born after 1 of January 1989 (inclusive);
- Eligible candidates must meet the USTC/UCAS admission criteria for international students;
- Eligible candidates must NOT carry out any other tasks during the period of their scholarship.
- If the applicant is currently studying for a doctorate at any university/institution in China, he/she will NOT be eligible for the doctoral programme of this scholarship. Otherwise, you will be disqualified from admission and the situation will be reported to the university/institution in question.
You are NOT allowed to apply for the ANSO scholarship at USTC and UCAS simultaneously, otherwise you will be disqualified from admission.
