Deadline: 24 January 2024
Registration is now open for the Royal Society Career Development Fellowship 2024 . The Career Development Fellowship (CDF) is a four-year post-doctoral research fellowship that aims to support the retention in STEM of researchers from under-represented backgrounds. The scheme will initially run as a pilot with researchers of black heritage. If successful, the pilot could be extended to researchers from other under-represented groups.
The scheme was developed following cross-sector roundtables and reports commissioned by the Royal Society that analysed trends over 11 years of Higher Education Statistics Authority (HESA) data and compared the Society's early career grants (PDF) against the pool of eligible applicants. This process identified the need for interventions across the academic pathway to support researchers from black or mixed black African, black Caribbean or other black heritage backgrounds, particularly researchers making the transition from postgraduate to early postdoctoral stages.
