The Kofi Annan Foundation is an independent non-profit organization established in Switzerland in 2007 by the late former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Our Board of Directors is composed of prominent figures from the public and private sectors, and we have a small team based in Geneva, Switzerland. The Kofi Annan Foundation seeks nominations for young leaders aged 18 to 35 with a proven interest and track record of working on issues related to democracy, accountability, transparency, and youth participation in Sub-Saharan Africa. To address these challenges and promote youth participation in public affairs, the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) implements the EU-funded project “Women and Youth in Democracy”. As members of the EPD, the Kofi Annan Foundation, along with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and the Oslo Centre, seeks young leaders for the third pillar of this project, which aims to improve youth inclusion in democracy and decision-making. We are looking for highly motivated young leaders in Sub-Saharan Africa, aged between 18 and 35, to participate in a comprehensive training and mentoring program to strengthen their skills and networks, and to apply for grants to implement their projects.
We invite organizations to submit a nomination for one or more young leaders from their network who meet the criteria and believe they are qualified to participate in this project. We welcome nominations for young leaders from all sectors – civil society, politics, business, media, and the arts – with the capacity and networks to reach many young people through their activities.
