- This year our competition is built around two categories:
- Category 1: Symptoms of nutrient deficiency in crops
- Have you ever spotted a symptom of nutrient deficiency in a crop? It's a perfect opportunity to take a moment to capture it for our competition. They are looking for well-framed examples that they can publish with full credit to the photographer. Need help distinguishing the symptoms? Check out our general reference diagram
- Category 2: Plant Nutrition Research in Action
- As an agricultural science practitioner, you often have the opportunity to be involved in or observe the implementation and development of best plant nutrition practices. They are looking forward to receiving your vivid images of African research in action, as well as the results of impactful research on crop productivity, environmental protection and the local community. They have chosen three themes to tag submissions in this category with:
- Climate & Weather Intelligent Plant Nutrition,
- Health Soil and Livelihood Improvement, or
- Precision Nutrient Management.

Rulers
- Send photos via this online submission form by the published deadline.
- Photos must be at least 1 MB in size to be uploaded.
- Up to 5 (five) photos per person will be accepted.
- The winners of each category will receive the prize cash plus a certificate of recognition.
- Entries submitted are the property of APNI.
Submission requirements
- High-resolution, high-quality photos. The file size must be at least 1 MB. Uncompressed photos are preferred. Accepted formats: JPG, JPEG or high-quality PNG.
- Entries with a logo or date/time stamp visible on the photo will not be accepted.
Photo descriptions
- Photos must include a unique caption, which includes a description of the subject of the photo, the location where it was taken, when it was taken (month and year, if possible) and how it relates to the competition category.
- Images of nutrient deficiency should be supported by a brief description of the symptoms. If you have any knowledge of how the crop was managed, or any analytical data, please include this in your description for the benefit of others and to help our evaluation.
