Deadline: Not specified

Registration is now open for the IAS Person-Centred Care Advocacy Academy 2024 . The Person-Centred Care Advocacy Academy will award scholarships to 15 advocates to take part in a series of interactive workshops. The academy is jointly organised by the IAS - International AIDS Society - and the Centre for Infectious Disease Research Zambia (CIDRZ), in partnership with Gilead Sciences. It is designed for individuals working in Central, East, Southern and West Africa who are interested in strengthening their advocacy skills to improve people-centred service delivery initiatives.

The objectives are:

  • To provide training and competences based on current person-centred care approaches to service provision and the existing barriers to their implementation.
  • Develop tools to disseminate information about people-centred approaches and their importance to the wider community, including policy-makers, the media and programme managers.
  • Create opportunities to interact with leading researchers and advocates in the field.
  • Guide participants to identify gaps in service provision in their communities and develop action plans to overcome these challenges.

Eligibility

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Have sufficient proficiency in English.
  • Demonstrate involvement as an HIV advocate or healthcare provider (including peer educators) for at least two years.
  • Be affiliated with HIV associations, groups or committees based in Central, Eastern, Southern or Western Africa.
