Eligibility and requirements for the USIP Peace Scholarship Programme

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Peace Fellowship Programme offers annual fellowships to doctoral candidates seeking to advance research and practice in peacebuilding. The programme aims to support innovative research that addresses critical issues of peace and conflict.

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in an accredited doctoral programme at a US or international university. The proposed research must focus on a topic related to peacebuilding, such as conflict resolution, mediation, post-conflict development or transitional justice.

Candidates must demonstrate academic excellence, research potential and a commitment to peacebuilding. They must submit a detailed research proposal that describes the scope, methods and potential impact of their work. In addition, applicants must provide letters of recommendation and academic transcripts.

The programme offers scholarships of US$ 20,000 for each year of study, for up to three years. Scholars receive guidance from experienced USIP mentors and have access to resources and networking opportunities.
