PhD student in peace and conflict research

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. The department is home to a dynamic research environment and is internationally orientated. Currently approx. 90 people work in the Department and around 1,000 students from all over the world are enrolled each academic year. Now we're looking to fill it:

  • A general doctoral position in peace and conflict research.
    The candidate must submit a project plan with a proposal for a PhD topic related to peace and conflict research.

Job description:
The doctoral candidate will focus primarily on his/her own doctoral training. A maximum of 20% of the position may involve other administrative and educational responsibilities in the Department.

Qualifications:
Employment as a doctoral candidate requires acceptance onto the DPCR's doctoral programme, which is decided through an assessment of the candidate's ability to successfully complete the programme. The application must be in English, completed online at the address below and must include:

1) completed application form for doctoral studies

2) short personal letter (1-2 pages)

3) CV

4) certified transcripts of academic records

5) a project plan (3-5 pages, excluding the list of references) related to the topic specified above

6) letters of reference/recommendation (max. 2 letters) or a list of references (max. 2) who can be contacted

7) write samples (1-3 samples).

By reference to the general postgraduate study programme, the applicant must first ensure that he or she meets the general or special eligibility requirements for studies in the field of peace and conflict research at postgraduate level. Full details are available  here .

About the job
The job is a temporary position in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, chapter 5 § 7. The scope of the job is 100%. The start date is 1 November 2024 or as otherwise agreed. Location: Uppsala.
