Applications are now open for the African Impact Challenge 2024 . Inspired by the Prosperity Paradox, AIC is run in different African countries every year. Since its launch in 2020, it has trained more than 1,000 early-stage African entrepreneurs and funded more than 100 of them. This happened in Ghana (2020), Kenya (2021), Rwanda (2022) and South Africa (2023). In 2022, they also launched the Pan-African Health Entrepreneurship Stream, which now runs annually with the support of the Mastercard Foundation.
The challenge begins with an individualised pre-incubation phase, starting in April 2024, which leads to the selection of the best-performing ventures for funding and incubation. Each top-performing venture will be interviewed and will be able to choose between a non-dilutive grant or a simple agreement for future capital investment. They will also have the chance to build in Toronto during the summer of 2025.

Benefits
- The best-performing teams receive up to US$ 25,000 in grants or a simple agreement for future capital investment (SAFE).
- They also travel to Toronto the following summer, with all costs covered, to learn and expand their entrepreneurial network.

Selection criteria
- You must solve an urgent problem/challenge in your country, providing a comprehensive solution with clearly defined tasks to be carried out.
- Your solution must be technologically enabled in its creation and/or use.
- Preference will be given to solutions that aimed at non-consumption, increasing adoption, accessibility and affordability.
- Preference will be given to innovative and scalable business models.
