Applications are now open for the Pioneers of the SDGs 2024 of the United Nations Global Compact . Each year, they celebrate the outstanding efforts of business professionals who are driving positive change by advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and embodying the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. These individuals, known as SDG Pioneers, play a crucial role in inspiring action and demonstrating the power of business to create a sustainable future for all.
In 2024, they are excited to embark on another journey to identify twelve SDG Pioneers from participating companies. These pioneers, regardless of their role, are setting ambitious targets for the SDGs, expanding their impact and championing a principles-based approach in their companies. Through a rigorous selection process that includes Local and Global Rounds, they will recognise individuals who exemplify dedication, innovation and leadership in advancing the SDGs.

The UN Global Compact will recognise 12 Global SDG Pioneers in two award categories: Large National and Multinational Companies and 2) SMEs. In addition, the UN Global Compact will recognise Global SDG Pioneers in 6 categories representing the regions in which they operate: Western Europe and North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Oceania.

- The winner of each country's Local Round will receive the title of "Global Compact Network 2024 SDG Pioneer [Country]".
Eligibility
- To be eligible, candidates must come from companies participating in the UN Global Compact with "Active" status.
- Companies must have joined the UN Global Compact before 1 October 2023.
- To maintain Active status, companies must submit their Communication on Progress (CoP) by the reporting deadline of 1st April to 31st July. Subsidiaries can participate if their parent company fulfils this obligation. To avoid any interruption in the Pioneers application process, companies are strongly encouraged to submit their CoP by 1 June 2024. Failure to submit the report by 31 July will disqualify the Pioneers application. A change in CoP status after being recognised as a local and/or global SDG Pioneer may result in the loss of consideration for the global SDG Pioneer title.
