Are you a young person living with HIV and passionate about making a difference in your community, country, region and globally? They are looking for committed young advocates to join the Board of the Global Network of Young People Living with HIV (Y+ Global).
The role of the Global Y+ Council is to guide and strengthen the Global Y+ network and determine programme priorities; to make decisions through a transparent process; to ensure that different communities of young people living with and affected by HIV from all regions are represented in Global Y+ decision-making and to strengthen the leadership of young people from all corners of the globe.

The Y+ Council is made up of nine young leaders, all under 30 and living with HIV. The team works in favour of the network's vision and represents different regions.
Obligations
The Board's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining the ethical and transparent governance of Y+ Global;
- Supervising and supporting the implementation of Y+ Globals' strategic plan;
- Attend virtual and face-to-face meetings of the Council and its working groups (a communications grant will be awarded to Council members to cover internet and data, and Y+ Global will cover all expenses for face-to-face meetings);
- Participate in the development and review of relevant policies related to the health, well-being and rights of young people living with and affected by HIV;
- Connect with youth-led organisations and networks that serve young people in your region;
- Defend the values and objectives of Y+ Global and provide input into the strategic direction of the organisation;
- Disseminate Y+ Global updates to national, regional and global networks;
- Provide regular updates on emerging issues, current work and opportunities, and provide quarterly written updates from the region they represent;
- Represent Y+ Global at meetings and events as needed, which are determined by the Board through a transparent participant selection process. Upon completion of meetings or events, Board members are expected to report back within two weeks;
- Provide technical support to networks of young people living with and affected by HIV to engage in local and global responses to HIV based on evidence-based needs and gaps and develop a technical assistance (TA) plan for Y+ Global;
- Recruiting and supporting senior members of the Y+ Global secretariat;
- Annually review strategic documents (including, but not limited to, Memoranda of Understanding, Work Plans, Terms of Reference, governance and protocols, etc.)

- Serving as a board member of Y+ Global allows young leaders to network with other professionals, activists and advocates in the field of global health, particularly in HIV/AIDS and SRH advocacy. This can lead to opportunities for collaboration, mentoring and future career prospects;
- Board members will have the opportunity to develop and hone various skills, such as leadership, communication, strategic planning, project management, advocacy and decision-making, through their involvement in board meetings and workshops and through representing Y+ Global at various events;
- Being a member of the council gives you access to exclusive workshops, training sessions and educational resources designed to develop leadership and advocacy skills, which can be valuable for personal and professional growth;
- By representing Y+ Global at meetings and events, young leaders have the opportunity to voice the concerns, perspectives and needs of young people affected by HIV/AIDS on a global platform. This allows them to influence policies, programmes and decisions that impact the HIV/AIDS community worldwide;
- Serving on the board of Y+ Global can contribute to personal and professional growth, providing opportunities for self-reflection, learning and development in a supportive and collaborative environment;
- Board members can gain visibility and recognition for their contributions and leadership, which can increase their credibility, reputation and future opportunities in their respective fields.
Eligibility
To apply, young leaders must be:
- Under 30s from the moment of enrolment;
- Be a national/citizen of one of the countries in the regions listed;
- Have a good command of the English language and be able to communicate at a comfortable level;
- Proven experience of working in national/regional responses to HIV and SRH;
- Demonstrate experience of working with organisations led by or serving young people;
- Passionate about the empowerment and leadership of young people and their meaningful involvement in health and decision-making;
- Able to commit to a two-year term on a voluntary contract;
- Be open-minded, culturally sensitive and willing to work with others through an inclusive approach;
- Be part of the team and contribute ideas that will strengthen Y+ Global as a leading organisation for young people living with and affected by HIV.
