It is a fully residential one-year master's programme with a research component. Applications are open to students from all over Africa who are passionate about maths, artificial intelligence and machine learning. We are looking for students who gaze in wonder at the stars and the world around them and who want to use their talents to accelerate scientific discovery.

We hope that many more students in Africa can be involved in pioneering research and contribute to the scientific discoveries that are yet to come.

Prerequisites

To be eligible to enrol on the AI for Science programme, you must:

  • be resident in Africa at the time of application,
  • be a citizen of any African country,
  • have completed a four-year degree course or a three-year degree course with an honours year by August 2024 (or December 2024 for applicants from Southern Africa; see FAQ),
  • not having obtained a previous scholarship to study at an AIMS centre.

Your degree course can be in physics, maths, statistics, computer science, engineering or any other discipline with a strong computational and mathematical component.
