Are you an exceptional young African leader determined to make a difference? O MILEAD Fellows Programme 2024 it's your chance to shine! For over a decade, MILEAD Fellows have been catalysing transformative change, breaking down barriers, implementing life-changing initiatives and challenging systems that discriminate against women and girls. Their programme is designed to identify, nurture and elevate the next generation of African female leaders, equipping them with the skills and support they need to thrive in leadership positions across Africa.

The MILEAD Programme provides fellows with world-class knowledge, skills, values and support systems crucial to their success as 21st century women leaders. The programme will be awarded to 25 outstanding young women who have demonstrated leadership potential in their community, organisation or profession.

The programme includes a three-week residential Summer Institute in Ghana and a community change project. Successful candidates can be full-time students or professionals during the programme, except during the 3-week summer institute.

The MILEAD Fellows Programme is a bold, paradigm-shifting initiative committed to the long-term leadership development of promising young leaders selected as Fellows. Fellows benefit from a combination of training, experiential learning and mentoring designed to develop knowledge and skills, strengthen networks and facilitate an ecosystem of support for women's leadership on critical issues.

In addition, the programme connects determined young women with influential and experienced African leaders who are committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation. Most importantly, Fellows benefit from lifelong solidarity and support through the MILEAD Network. One of the distinctive features of their programme is the deliberate integration of community service into the annual training. Each Fellow will initiate and lead a community change project (MiCHANGE) on a critical issue of importance to their community or to African women as a whole.

Scholarships

• Only a limited number of successful candidates will receive a full scholarship. The fee for the MILEAD 2024 Institute is US$ 4,500 and covers travel, accommodation, tuition, all meals, site visits, local events, training materials and programme-related costs.

Eligibility

• Open to dynamic young women interested in honing transformational leadership skills to solve problems faced by women and girls in African communities.
• Be between 19 and 25 years old.
