Water security – defined as ensuring the availability of an adequate quantity of good quality water – is a global challenge. The water we use every day depends directly on the landscapes through which it flows, but almost half of the world's drinking water sources are significantly degraded. Aggravating factors such as population growth, climate change and poor planning only further exacerbate water insecurity. By 2025, it is expected that almost 701 TFP of the world's population will live in water-scarce areas.

Based on experience, investing in watersheds, river basins, and watersheds using nature-based solutions (NbS) typically requires a long-term programmatic approach. They call this a “Watershed Investment Program.” The term ‘Watershed Investment Program’ is deliberately intended to encompass a wide range of related categories, including watershed management programs, water funds, watershed management programs, watershed management programs, etc. A defined portfolio of NbS interventions within a specific service area. However, organizing Watershed Investment Programs is complex, interdisciplinary, and requires substantial expertise to be successful. This is where Nature for Water Facility can help.

Nature for Water organizes a call for proposals This call is for partners working at a watershed, river basin, or catchment scale to address quantity, quality, or other water security issues. Nature for Water specializes in co-designing nature-based solutions (NbS). Their services page describes the phases they use to develop a Watershed Investment Program (WIP) following a collective action framework. If this sounds like the support you need, keep reading.
